Filed under: Travel — admin @ 9:57 am

The PHL parking and shuttle services you choose to use can make the difference between a stress-free start to your trip and one that is filled with worry.  If you’re tired of constantly stressing about the security of your car or waiting for shuttles to pick you up, it’s time to make a change for the better!  Now, you will never worry again about security issues while you are away on a business trip or family get-away.

PHL airport parking and shuttle services offer the best in security when it comes to your vehicle.  While you are shopping out of town, attending a business meeting or laying on the beach basking in the sun, never worry about the safety of your vehicle again.  With a fenced in parking ground to keep unwanted vandals out and well lit surroundings, your car is always completely secure.  Staff members patrol the grounds on a consistent basis both by foot and shuttle, so you can be certain that all is under control.

The shuttle services that are offered at the most reputable Philly airport parking and shuttle services facility are second to none!  No more waiting 30 minutes for a shuttle to pick you up on your return to town; meet with friends, make that business meeting on time or just get home so you can relax after your travels.  You will never wait longer than 10 minutes upon your return for a shuttle to come pick you up and drop you off right at your car!  Exceptional service with a smile is what you can expect when you choose an award-winning facility.  Wouldn’t it be nice to see smiling faces that you recognize when you travel, instead of unfamiliar faces of people that seem to regard you as a bother?

If you have used the services of another PHL airport parking and shuttle services facility in the past, you were likely not satisfied with the service.  Employees may have been less than helpful, your car may have been vandalized, or you may have had to wait for what seemed like an eternity for the shuttle to pick you up.  No matter what the reason for your dissatisfaction, you can change all that the next time you travel.  Start your trip out on the right note, and end it in the same wonderful tune.

Fatal San Jose Motorcycle Crash Results in Arrest of Twenty-Four Year Old Woman

Earlier this month, a 50-year-old San Jose resident was killed in an accident on Highway 87 when he was rear-ended as he rode his Suzuki motorcycle.  He was declared dead at the scene after being thrown from his bike, and this has San Jose motorcycle accident attorneys extremely concerned.

Heather Baxter was arrested shortly after the crash on suspicion of misdemeanor manslaughter and felony, however she has yet to be charged.  There is no indication thus far that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident, which was first reported to be a one vehicle accident.  It was later confirmed that the catastrophe did involve another vehicle.

The California Highway Patrol report states that Baxter was traveling at about 70 mph and was unable to stop her car from plowing into the back of the motorcycle.  She has no criminal history, and the accident is quite puzzling to this point.

The majority of motorcycle accidents are caused by motorists who fail to yield the right of way to motorcyclists.  Those motorists who drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol or drive in a reckless manner make the roads much more dangerous for those who ride bicycles and motorcycles.  Motorists are often negligent when it comes to motorcycles, and feel that the motorcyclist has no rights.

California motorists have little reason to be negligent when it comes to motorcyclists and their rights.  With the increasing number of motorcycles on the roads nationwide, people should be getting well accustomed to driving in a safe manner when motorcycles are in the area.

Distracted driving is becoming a problem that not only puts motorcyclists in danger, it puts all motorists at greater risk of accidents and serious injuries.  California motorcycle accident lawyers know that distracted driving is a huge safety concern.  In fact, at least 30% of accidents that take place each year are due to distractions while driving.  There are countless ways a driver can be distracted, including passengers, cell phones, GPS systems and even billboards.

Now, distracted driving will only increase as a new infotainment system rolls out on some cars this year, which according to automakers will only allow internet access when the vehicle is placed in park.  However, motorists can still look at 3-D maps and restaurant reviews while driving down the highway, which simply puts all other motorists, including those riding motorcycles, at an increased risk of accidents.

Motorcyclists are often seriously injured in accidents because of the minimum protection they have while riding.  Often, the results are catastrophic and may include spinal cord injuries, brain injures, serious trauma and even amputations.

Filed under: Travel — admin @ 10:30 am

Do you travel frequently from Philadelphia airport?  Even if you have never flown before, you probably assume that all PHL airport parking and shuttle services are pretty much alike.  For the most part they are; however you can travel and enjoy a much nicer experience!  Leave stress, anxiety and worry out of the equation the next time you travel.

Traveling for business is never that enjoyable, but you should expect to have a pleasant experience.  Taking a long awaited family vacation should be fun and exciting.  All too often you are forced to put up with stress and irritation long before you ever arrive at the airport.  By choosing the best PHL parking and shuttle services available, you can be certain that every aspect will be smooth and without a hitch.

Why should you choose the facility you use carefully?  Here are three major reasons:

1.  You want to be able to enjoy your trip, and not worry about the safety of your car.  When you choose a reputable facility, you can rest assured that your car will be in perfect condition when you return.

2.  Late shuttles are something you should not have to deal with.  You want a shuttle to transport you from your car to the airport without having to wait on it to arrive.  You expect the same treatment upon your return – you expect a shuttle to pick you up within minutes and return you to your car.

3.  You should be treated with respect.  All too often these days, you encounter employees who are rude, unfriendly and offer no assistance.  This should not be tolerated; after all, you spend good money with these companies and should expect great customer service.

When you choose a PHL airport parking and shuttle services facility located in a safe area of town, you can rest assured that you are getting the best security available.  Shuttles run on time, and staff members are courteous and helpful.  In fact, you will see the same faces every time you travel, and you will be treated to the best in customer service.  Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?

It is true.  Do your research the next time you plan a trip, and you will find that by choosing the best PHL airport parking and shuttle services available, your travel experience will be the best ever.

Motorcycle Accident Prevention Ramped Up by Los Angeles Police

Fatalities to motorcyclists seem to be on the increase, while fatalities in other automobile accidents prove to be steadily declining.  This issue continues to be a concern, and Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorneys know all too well that stronger enforcement of motorcycle safety rules must be implemented.  Recently, the LAPD announced that it will begin ramping up motorcycle enforcement activities, especially in areas that seem to attract fatal accidents in motorcyclists.

A few of the areas that will be patrolled more frequently are Topanga Canyon, Pacific Coast Highway, Crenshaw Boulevard and the San Fernando Valley.  Not only will they be on the lookout for traffic violations in motorcyclists, they will be closely observing for violations made by other motorists as well, who often feel that they have more rights than those who ride motorcycles.  Los Angeles motorcycle crash lawyers are very aware that many motorcycle accidents can be traced to a motorist’s failure to yield right of way to a cyclist.  The LAPD is making efforts to crack down not only on those who ride motorcycles, but motorists as well.  In truth, those who drive cars and those who drive motorcycles are often equally guilty of practicing unsafe behaviors.

All around the country, fatalities related to motorcycle crashes have been on the rise.  This includes California, where there has been an alarming rise in the incidence of motorcycle fatalities between the years of 2000 and 2008.  According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, these fatalities increased by an almost unbelievable 91 percent, and something must be done.  The agency recently granted $100,000 to the LAPD to conduct more enforcement activities, which will run through September 30th of 2010.  Time will tell if this increased enforcement will help reduce the fatality rates of Los Angeles, which rose by 62% between 2004 and 2008.

We are now in the midst of the holidays, and safety issues are more of an important concern than ever.  As people travel to visit family, shop and other activities associated with Christmas and New Years, the risk of accidents increase.  This often results in serious injuries to motorcyclists.  Unfortunately, too many motorists do not respect the rights of motorcyclists.  Motorists should respect all right of way rules, and watch closely when making turns or changing lanes when a motorcycle is in close proximity.

Motorist in Bicycle Accident Still Sought by Los Angeles Police

A 40 year old bicyclist was struck by an SUV in Los Angeles recently, resulting in serious injuries.  The accident took place at the intersection of Archwood Street and Laurel Canyon Boulevard, and the motorist who was thought to be driving a Nissan Pathfinder left the scene.  Los Angeles police continue to search for the motorist.

It is likely that the driver of the SUV realized that they had struck the cyclist, according to detectives, but chose to drive off anyway leaving the seriously injured cyclist lying in the road.  Anyone in the public who witnessed the accident or has any information are being asked to come forward by detectives, as the bicyclist remains in serious condition at a hospital.

Hostility between motorists and those who ride bicycles has been of huge concern recently.  Just last month, road rage that resulted in two bicyclists being seriously injured caused a Los Angeles doctor to be convicted after pulling out in front of the two as they were riding.  He is expected to be sentenced in December, and the two injured cyclists have made it known that they believe stricter punishments are called for when it comes to motorists who do not respect that those who ride bicycles do have rights.

Commuting by bicycle has become more common and extremely popular in California, largely due to the fact that gas prices were so high last summer.  Now, with the economic downturn, more people are riding bicycles as a way to get to work and to enjoy leisure time.  It saves a substantial amount on fuel expenses, and is simply a more efficient way of getting around town.  Unfortunately, it also means that California’s congested streets are becoming a frequent place for road rage to take place, which Los Angeles personal injury lawyer have noticed.

To increase safety and make risks less likely, bicyclists are encouraged to:

* Wear clothing that is brightly colored so you are easily seen at night.

* At night, keep front and rear lights on

* Try to ride where motorists can easily see you

* Avoid tricks and stunts where motorists are present

* Do not ride against the direction of traffic

* Obey traffic rules

* Remain calm if a motorist becomes aggressive

* Try to avoid congested areas such as intersections, and take the back roads to your destination when possible

* Always wear a helmet to protect from head injuries

iPod Car Adapters Answer a Frequently Asked Question

One question that is asked often by those who love music is “how can I play my iPod with my car stereo?”  While you may not think there is a solution, iPod adapters offer anyone the ability to listen to their own type of music and favorite artists no matter where they go.  Listening to the radio can get monotonous; so many stations these days play the same songs over and over, with constant commercial interruptions.  Good news – you do have choices!

Technology has come a very long way.  When MP3 players and other iPods came out just a few years ago, music lovers discovered that they could carry thousands of their favorite songs in one tiny device.  Now, iPod car adapters allow you to listen while you travel on errands, to work, or even on vacation!  Exciting news for those who truly enjoy music.  No more ripping CD’s, buying songs on iTunes or lugging around heavy CD cases.

Even if your vehicle is an older model, you have nothing to worry about.  Nearly any make of car can be adapted so that you can listen to the songs you love straight through the stereo of your car!  If your vehicle came with a cassette player, there is a solution for you as well.  In the event that you had a stereo installed after you purchased your car, you are in luck as well.

iPod car adapters offer a variety of solutions for your listening needs.  Even if you are on a strict budget, there are options that are very affordable, and will have you listening to your favorite tunes and artists in no time!  The wireless FM module is the most inexpensive solution, and is a great choice if you live in an area where there is little interference or competition in FM radio stations.  Simply select an unused FM station and you are ready to go!  If you can find one with unused frequencies on both sides, even better.

Whether you have a compact disc player or cassette player in your car, the options allow you to play your tunes right through your car stereo system!  This means you can control your music right from the stereo controls, or through the steering wheel if you have that option.  You can have true, crystal clear sound that is amazing – and you never lose your music, even when traveling in isolated areas.

As you can see, there is an answer to your question!  If you have wondered how to play your iPod in your car, or even if it was a possibility, now you know.  iPod car adapters are a great advance in technology, and allow you to listen in your vehicle, where it matters most.

Risk of Brain Injuries Increased In Motorcyclists Without Helmets According to NHTSA Study

An individual’s chance of surviving a motorcycle crash increases significantly when the rider wears a helmet, and California motorcycle accident lawyers are well aware of this fact.  The NHTSA has recently conducted a study that examines how the use of a helmet decreases the risk of varying degrees of TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury.)  Hospital expenses in those who do wear helmets and those that don’t are another area of the study.  The study has shown, to no one’s surprise, that those motorcyclists that do wear a helmet experience less risk of TBI, and also have less hospital expenses.

This study was conducted using data from the years 2003,2004 and 2005, which included 104,472 motorcyclists in 18 states.  In this study, 43% of the motorcyclists did not wear helmets, and 57% did at the time the accidents occurred.  Across both groups, an interesting fact was proven:  Whether they were or were not wearing a helmet, 40% of the motorcyclists received severe injuries or died due to the accident.  California personal injury attorneys realize that a large portion of those who ride motorcycles are victims of serious injuries or death when a crash occurs.

In the study conducted by the NHTSA, 6.6 % who did not wear a helmet suffered moderate to severe injuries to the face or head.  In those motorcyclists who did wear helmets, only 5.1% experienced severe injuries.  As far as Traumatic Brain Injury, only 15% of helmeted riders experienced this, compared to 21% in those who did not wear a helmet.  The study showed a very distinct difference in those who suffered a serious brain injury, depending on whether or not they wore a helmet.  This study does prove the difference in the occurrence of severe TBI based on motorcyclists who did wear helmets versus those that did not.

Not surprisingly, statistics prove that motorcyclists who do wear a helmet have a much lower chance of being the victim of either head or face injuries, brain injury or death.  Hospital costs were also measured in the study, which concluded that expenses for those who suffered TBI were substantially higher – in fact 13 times higher than for those motorcyclists who did not suffer TBI.  Non TBI patients had a hospital bill averaging $2,461, while those that did suffer a TBI had charges of approximately $31,979.

Naturally, those who did not suffer TBI went home much quicker, and were not as likely to die while in the hospital, or to spend time in a long term care or rehab facility.  Over half of the motorcyclists who were hospitalized with TBI died.  Fatalities caused by motorcycle accidents continue to increase, and the NHTSA conducted this study as part of ongoing efforts to lower the incidence of fatalities in motorcycle crashes.

Who Said Efficiency doesn’t go with Style?

When you hear the phrase “a fuel efficient car”, the first thing that comes to most people’s mind, is an ugly car. It is true that many things including cars and trucks, designed for efficiency in one area or another are not very attractive or stylish for that matter. A Honda Civic however has broken from this trend and is now amongst the leading manufacturers of some of the most stylish and fuel efficient vehicles in the global market.

Honda has a long standing history of producing vehicles that have gained popularity around the world because of their economic consumption of fuel. The company has begun to shift more attention to the design of its models. The release of the 2006 eighth generation model was evidence that efficiency and style can mix, and mix well.

Due to the new emphasis on style, the 2006 models do not have as much rear leg room and trunk capacity as its predecessors. It is available in the coupe and sedan designs. The new features that were brought in to make the Civic appeal to the more fashionable car owners are the reduced back and front overhangs and a more laid-back windshield. Also, the wheelbase was made even shorter than its predecessor.

Those seeking more power and speed will be glad to know that the manufacturers increased the horsepower on all the models of the eighth generation. A 1.8 liter SOHC engine powers all the models. The horsepower produced by the engine is about 140 and it further produces a torque of 128 pound-feet. To many Honda Civic enthusiasts, this is a great improvement from previous models. The Civic Si hatchback for example was not very popular amongst car buyers. This was because its performance was disappointing.

The coupe version of the 2006 Honda Civic is even more enticing to anyone planning to purchase a car that is stylish, fast and economical in fuel consumption. The engine in this car is even more powerful reaching up to 197-hp. The car features sport-tuned suspension and is a six-speed manual. The Civic Hybrid Sedan is more suitable for those seeking style and economic fuel consumption alone. The system used in the sedan is like other civics i.e. The IMA (integrated motor assist) system developed by Honda. This system utilizes a 1.3 liter four cylinder engine with a single-overhead cam. Its mileage increases to about 50 mpg with a combined horsepower of up 110. The secret behind the Civics’ fuel efficiency is that the engine is built to shut down when the car decelerates or when it is cruising steadily. The motor therefore propels the car on its own. This is similar to the mechanism employed in the Toyota Prius.

You can start saving money today. Invest in a Honda Civic and start counting the pennies you save. Style and efficiency can go hand in hand. If you thought that saving on fuel would mean buying an old or ugly car, the Honda Company is out to prove you wrong. If you desire to save money, the environment and still look good, go to your nearest car dealer and ask about the 2006 Civic models.

Denver Seeing Blizzard Early This Year

Filed under: Travel — admin @ 12:38 pm

I had just got back into my cozy Denver hotel room when I found this out:
Interstate 70 from just east of Denver to the Kansas state line was shut down today, October 29, 2009, due to blizzard conditions on the Eastern Plains from east of the city to the Kansas state line. Kyle Fredin, spokesman for the National Weather Service, was quoted as saying, “The winds are starting to crank up as this low exits.” In both directions– from Airpark Road to the state line, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.

36 mph wind gusts are dropping visibilty on the plains. In areas visibility has been cut to less than a quarter of a mile. For the Front Range, snow may be expected to continue, but will decrease to snow showers as the storm moves east across the plains. As na aside if you get stuck in Denver due to bad weather or any other reason and you need a good Denver Hotel room then may I suggest the Hilton Gardenn Inn, which is located downtown near the 16th street mall and near pepsi center. I highly recommend their Denver hotel rooms for your stay.

18 miles northeast of downtown Denver, a deep low-pressure system is advancing from southern Colorado into western Kansas. The Denver International Airport is reporting hours of delays as the blizzard conditions cover the airport this afternoon. In addition to all of this, a Denver Blizzard Caused some Back Ups for Frontier, United and Other airlines. Specifically, Frontier Airlines reported up to four-hour delays, with winds blowing snow 20-30 miles per hour with even higher sporadic gusts. The airline said the airport was struggling to maintain the runways and were being used only minimally. Further, Frontier said they had to cancel their flights this morning, in and out of Denver. Frontier does not expect any more cancellations at this time.

United Airlines was forced to cancel half of its 400 flights today, and Frontier cancelled 19. United spokesman, Charlie Hobart, said that out of six runways, only two are being used.

There were hundreds of accidents around Denver today, thankfully all of them minor. Some traffic was halted altogether by the conditions that made for dangerous driving in the area.

The Denver area is expected to experience snow until Saturday night. The Colorado Rockies playoff game against the Philadelphia Phillies has been postponed.

South of Denver in Colorado Springs, 20 to 30 vehicles were involved in a multicar crash on southbound I-25 near South Nevada Street at around 6:15 a.m., police reported. The I-25 freeway was blocked. A detour at Exit 140 was set up.
